Arrangements are in top gear to equip the pharmaceutical department of the Hospital Management Board with modern equipment as part of measures of the Ogun State Government to wipe out the menace of fake drugs and ensure effective service delivery.

The Permanent Secretary in the Board, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro, dropped this hint during a day seminar in Abeokuta, organised by the Department of Pharmaceutical Services tagged:’ Leadership and Management Training for Hospital Pharmacists” and emphasised the need to collectively tackle the issue for a better society.

Aigoro, represented by the Board’s Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Dr. Wellington Ogunsanya, assured that the ongoing massive renovation of health facilities across the three Senatorial Districts embarked upon by the State government would include the pharmaceutical sections, so as to enhance service delivery in line with global standard. 

‘’The Prince Dapo Abiodun led government is committed to providing high-definition equipment for the pharmaceutical departments in the State health facilities across the three Senatorial Districts, to be able to live up to expectation on service delivery’’, he said.

 The Permanent Secretary urged participants to take advantage of the workshop to upgrade themselves and put it in good use to justify the government ‘s investment in the health sector, saying the Board would continue to put welfare of its workers on the front burner in various areas of their jurisdictions.

Earlier in his speech, the Director, Pharmaceutical Services in the Board, Pharmacist Olusesan Adenaiya, said the workshop would acquaint participants with leadership and management skill needed to enhance their productivity.

"The Department of Pharmaceutical Services of HMB is putting up this capacity building training to enable our pharmacists in health facilities across the State to be abreast of new trends in the profession. I want to urge you to use the knowledge gained in the course of your job, as you continue to climb the leadership ladder,” Adenaiya said.

Speaking on behalf of other participants, Pharmacists Lateef Adeniji and Temitope Obasan said the reforms and trainings in the heath sector would have positive impact on service delivery, noting that the workshop would broaden their knowledge.
