----Says any Students caught would face full wrath of the law

Ogun State Government has declared zero tolerance for unruly behaviour of students and parents that have been disrupting teaching and learning activities of schools, declaring that erring students would be expelled and prosecuted along with their accomplices.
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu gave this warning in Abeokuta on Wednesday while addressing management and Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) across the State, against the backdrop of the incidences of secondary school students who were pounding their teachers for disciplining them.
It would be recalled that First Awareness reported Yesterday that four students of Ijoun Community High School who hired hoodlums to attack their teachers were arrested by the Nigeria Police.
The students were said to have imported hoodlums into the school premises to beat their teachers who punished them for making noises.
Apparently referring to this incident,the Commissioner stated that government would continue to frown at such acts of indiscipline.
He revealed that those that were caught previously have been arrested and charged to court accordingly, saying that his Ministry would collaborate with law enforcement agencies such as the Police, Nigeria Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), So-Safe Corps and others to ensure that normalcy is restored in schools.
Arigbabu said Governor Dapo Abiodun has been unrelenting in supporting Principals and Teachers in the discharge of their duties, urging parents and guardians to continually monitor and call their children to order.
"The Governor is really worried about the unruly trend of hoodlums coming into our schools to beat up our teachers, and he has frowned at such act of indiscipline, therefore any students caught in this act would be made to face the full wrath of the law alongside their accomplices. Ogun state is known for being home of respectable and responsible citizens and we will not allow any act that would tarnish our image", the commissioner warned.
Speaking further, Arigbabu pledged that his Ministry would look into the immediate and remote causes of the unruly behaviour and find ways to tackle it, admonishing teachers to give a good account of themselves at all times.
He charged parents that have complaints against any teacher to channel their grievances to the principals and the Ministry, promising that such a report would be addressed accordingly.
In his submission, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Waheed Odusile said the government would continue to prioritise the safety of teachers and students, hence, any act of indiscipline would not be taken with levity.
Odusile who underscored the importance of teachers in imparting knowledge and instilling discipline urged parents to always look out for tell-tale signs that could indicate unacceptable behaviours among their wards and take immediate necessary actions to nip such in the bud.
