Vice Chancellor of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Professor Ganiyu Olatunde has commended the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba (Dr) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, the Yewa Think Tank and other stakeholders for their selfless contributions to the development of the University's College of Agricultural Sciences located in Ayetoro-Yewa.
Professor Olatunde gave this commendation at the official commmissioning and hand over of the electrification project connecting the campus to the national grid held at the College of Agricultural Sciences, Ayetoro-Yewa.
According to the Press statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of Yewa Think Tank ,Prince Femi Dokunmu,the OOU Vice Chancellor said the University was very grateful for this laudable project which has greatly improved teaching and research on the campus and has saved costs incurred on diesel for running generators since 2016 when the College moved to its permanent site.
In his address, Oba Olugbenle expressed his appreciation to individuals and groups who have made notable contributions towards the development of Yewaland, and called on others to come home and be identified with the new pace of development being facilitated across Yewaland.
The multi-million Naira electrification project which was executed by the Yewa Think Tank, and personally promoted by Oba Olugbenle, was facilitated through support and donations from Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, Chief Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun and Rt. Honourable Suraj Ishola Adekunbi.
Other facilitators are the Yewa Education Trust Fund, Ayetoro-Yewa Central Initiative for Development and Yewa Descendants Union, North America, UK and Ireland.
Royal Fathers and Dignitaries at the landmark event include Alaye of Ayetoro, Oba Abdul Azeez Ishola Adelakun; Adokun of Igan-Okoto, Oba M.K Salako; President of the Yewa Think Tank, Professor John Aihonsu; Provost of the College, Professor Kayode Olurin; Otunba SAJ Ibikunle; Professor Anthony Asiwaju; Senator Kola Bajomo; Honourable M.A Ajibola and Mr Babatunde Rajh-Label, who both represented Senator Olamilekan Adeola; Rt. Honourable Suraj AdekunbI; Chairman of the Central Ayetoro-Yewa Day Organizing Committee, Chief Kunle Amosun; Elder Sola Adeyemi; Chief Dele Oderinde; Alhaji Abass Olanigan, and Chief Bola Adeosun.
Others are Chief Samson Odebo; Prince Jacob Akindele; Mr Nafiu Adebiyi; Honourable Tunji Idowu; Prince Tunde Tella; Dr Biodun Oluseye; Mrs Folashade Yemitan and Engr Yinka Akintomide, Chairman/ CEO of Tommy Toaks Enterprises Limited, the Contractor that handled the project; among others.
